Halloween Parade  
Registration:  October 25th, 2015 at Noon at West End School
Event Date:  October 25th, 2015 at 1:00 pm

Eligibility:  All North Plainfield Youth (Parents are welcome to dress-up and accompany their child.  
However, only children are eligible for costume prizes.)
Description:  Join the annual tradition of our town's Halloween parade the Sunday before Halloween.    
 
Join us for fall festivities, costume judging and refreshments.  In case of inclement weather, the activities
will take place in the
NPHS Gymnasium.  Meet at W. End School at 12:30 pm.  Parade starts promptly at
1pm and march to Vermeule playground.

Community Holiday Event:  Tree Lighting and Santa Comes To Town
Event Date:  Sunday, 11-29-2015 at 4:00 pm at Vermeule
Description:  Come celebrate two Annual North Plainfield traditions together - Recreation's
Holiday Tree
Lighting
and the Borough's Santa Comes to Town.  Everyone is invited to join us at Vermeule for Santa's
arrival at 4 pm, holiday music, balloon caricatures, hot chocolate, cookies and other refreshments, and
more! Mayor Giordano will celebrate the holiday season by lighting the tree.

Note:  
This event always takes place on the first Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Easter Egg Hunt at Vermeule
Event Date:  March 19th, 2016 at 2 pm at Vermeule, Rain Date: March 20th (same time/location)
Description:  Meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for easter candy (remember to bring your camera and a
basket to carry your eggs).

Fishing Derby
Registration Dates:  Register at the same time/day of the event
Event Date:  April 23rd, 2016 from 8:30 - 11:30 am at Green Acres Park
 Rain date will be April 24th. Same time/place.
(Note: Tball will start at 1pm on this date)
Eligibility: North Plainfield residents in 1st - 8th grades
Description: This has been a N. Plainfield tradition for the last 40+ years.  Children win prizes for the
most fish caught, largest fish caught, etc.  The annual spring fishing derby takes place at Green Acres
Park.  Donations of prizes to continue this tradition are greatly appreciated.

2016 Summer Camps

Our programs will begin around the last week in June and end at the beginning of August.

Our goal is to provide your child a recreational/educational 7 week summer program.

Early Bird Special:  Register and pay in full by April 9th, 2016
North Plainfield Parks & Recreation will be offering 2 types of programs during Summer 2016 for its
residents:  Summer Camp and Summer Playgrounds. See details of both camps below.
Registration Dates:  (TBD)
Eligibility: N. Plainfield children ages 4 through 13; residents outside of North Plainfield will pay an
additional fee.

Summer Camp for Ages 4-15
Description: The Recreation Commission sponsors an indoor/outdoor summer program. Campers can
sign-up for weekly field trips and will be placed in a camp-site based on their age with age-appropriate
activities. There are a variety of activities including arts and crafts, board games, indoor and outdoor
sports, playground equipment.  There will be weekly themes and weekly field trips at an extra cost.
Hours:   The Summer Camp will be a full day starting at 9 am and ending at 3 pm. This program will be
open rain or shine.
Before Care and After Care!  
We now offer before care and after care for an additional cost, starting at 8 am and ending at 6 pm.
Season:  7 weeks (no camp on July 4th due to Independence Day)

Playgrounds
Description: The Recreation Commission sponsors an outdoor summer playgrounds program that will be
at East End School. This program is available to North Plainfield residents in grades Kindergarten-8th.  
This playground camp will have limited activities and will be 100% outdoors.
East End school - Half Day (9 am - 1 pm), Weather Permitting and limited activities
Hours:  The Summer Playgrounds Camp runs from 9 am - 1 pm and is weather permitting.
Season:  7 weeks (no camp on July 4th due to Independence Day)
